Murray hill
Murray hill which has long since been leveled is an area between 42nd street & 29th street, from 5th avenue to around Lexington Avenue. Murray Hill was named after the Murray family who had a 29 acre farm & and a large house at the location in the late 18th Century. Robert Murray of Pennsylvania came to New York and made his fortune trade and shipping. The area is home to young professionals with restaurants and bars lining Third Avenue, with many of the being Indian it is often referred to as Curry Hill in jest.
